Autism/Developmental Disabilities

Friendship House offers treatment options for children on the autism spectrum. Research proven treatments and services, delivered by a staff extensively trained in Applied Behavior Analysis, are the cornerstone of the program. Treatment is based on our philosophy that individuals on the autism spectrum can be active, contributing members of the community. Together, families and treatment teams help individuals to be as personally and socially independent as possible.

Autism: Center-Based Services

ABA Center Based Services

Candidates for center-based services have already received a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. The program offers full-day, state-of-the-art, intensive, comprehensive treatment.

Autism: Community-Based Services

ABA Community Based Services

This program offers children on the autism spectrum one-on-one attention in the classroom. Trained Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) support the child and teacher in the school, home, and community setting. This service helps the individual learn appropriate adaptive behaviors and decrease behavioral symptoms that may impede functioning.

Early Intervention Service Coordination for Infants & Toddlers

Early Intervention (EI) in Pennsylvania consists of supporting families with children who have developmental delays or disabilities. Friendship House provides Early Intervention Service Coordination for infants and toddlers, ages birth to three years. Service Coordination is an ongoing set of activities that assist infants/toddlers and the infant’s/toddler’s family/caregiver with gaining access to services and supports appropriate to their needs and with additional activities such as:

  • Coordinating initial and ongoing evaluations and assessments of children
  • Screening and tracking children who are at risk for developmental delays
  • Facilitating gaining access to and the timely delivery of EI services
  • Assisting with arranging for the medical and health services of an infant/toddler
  • Informing families/caregivers of community resources that may benefit them
  • Providing information about local support groups and family/caregiver networks
